Portland, ME (January 7, 2008) A team of 8 individuals is preparing for the ultimate Maine winter weekend when they ski and ride all 17 Ski Maine Association member areas. Outdoor writer Carey Kish and Ski Maine Executive Director, Greg Sweetser, will lead the event. Beginning Friday afternoon, January 18 and continuing through the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday, Monday January 21, this team will record a run at each area.

FRIDAY:

Start at Spruce Mountain in Jay at 2:00pm.

4. Mt Abram, Greenwood

SATURDAY:

5. Sunday River, Bethel

6. Black Mt., Rumford

7. Titcomb Mt., West Farmington

8. Saddleback, Rangeley

9. Sugarloaf, Carrabassett Valley

SUNDAY:

10. Baker Mt., Moscow

11. Eaton Mt., Skowhegan

12. Hermon Mt., Hermon

13. Mt. Jefferson, Lee

14. Big Rock, Mars Hill

15. Quoggy Jo, Presque Isle

MONDAY:

16. Lonesome Pine Trails, Fort Kent

17. Camden Snow Bowl, Camden

Ski Maine Association represents ski & snowboard areas across the state. Ski Maine is highlighting each one by undertaking this tour.  This weekend event also highlights the season long, Maine Peak to Peak Challenge, which awards skiers based on the number of areas they visit. The more mountains logged by skiers and riders, the bigger the possible prize.

• Ski / Ride all of Maine’s 17 member areas and skiers can enter to win a Ski Maine VIP pass and Solo Pack for the 2008/2009 season. The VIP Pass allows the winner to ski any Maine mountain at any time.

• Ski  / Ride any 12 Ski Maine member areas and participants will be entered to win a Ski Maine Double Pack for the 2008/2009 season: 2 tickets to each member area.

• Ski / Ride any 6 Ski Maine member areas and participants will be entered to win the Ski Maine Solo Pack for the 2008/2009 season: 1 ticket to each member area.

Participants will track their visits with the Ski Maine Peak to Peak Challenge card which is available on the Ski Maine website.

Maine's ski and snowboard industry is built on a rich skiing heritage, now protected and displayed for posterity by the Ski Museum of Maine. The Maine Peak to Peak Challenge, sponsored by the Ski Maine Association, will help further the mission of the museum through supporting pledges gathered throughout the winter.
