What’s New HIGHLIGHTS at Maine Ski Areas for the 2007/08 Season

Sunday River:

• Purchased by CNL Income Properties Inc., a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on lifestyle properties on August 8, 2007. The ski area will be managed by Boyne USA Resorts
• $4.8 million in improvements for the 2007/08 season
• $1 million snowmaking expansion includes 10 Boyne proprietary, high-output, energy efficient fan guns, plus 85 more low energy snow guns
• A 500 foot Kaser magic carpet lift servicing Sunday River’s Sundance learning terrain, just steps from the Sprint Perfect Turn Discovery Center
• Renovations to the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel, Grand Summit Resort Hotel and slopeside condos.
• Three new Bison by Prinoth 355 horsepower grooming machines
• Renovations to South Ridge and Peak Lodge
• New ticketing system

_Sugarloaf:

• $4 million in improvements for the 2007/08 season
• Expanded water pumping capacity by 20% for snowmaking. Construction of a new pump station is underway. The station is located on the Tote Road ski trail, above the SuperQuad summit terminal
• Introducing a number of Boyne proprietary, high-output, energy efficient fan guns plus 70 new traditional low energy snow guns to boost early season capacity
• Addition of two new state-of-the-art Prinoth groomers
• Carpet style beginner lift on the Birches slope
• Sugarloaf Explorer bus service becomes public transit system
• Expand and renovate Bullwinkles, Sugarloaf’s mid-mountain lodge
• Renovations in the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel, formerly the Grand Summit
• Town of Carrabassett Valley has funded a $1.4 million expansion of the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center

Saddleback:

• Received 10 year development plan approval by Maine’s Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC)
• Hired a new Ski and Snowboard School Director, Mark Robie, formerly of Sugarloaf.
• Final excavation and trail maintenance on America ski trail, one of the most scenic runs from the summit
• Installing snowmaking on the America ski trail
• Updating the Sandy River Chair to solid state technology
• Adding features to the terrain park
• Upper Jane Craig glade will be cut
• Condominiums are under construction in the Rock Pond II, South Branch and Mountain Brook developments. They are available as full and fractional ownership.
• Private home sites are available in the Magalloway development, adjacent to the proposed Magalloway lift and trail network.
• Chairlift engineering and design have begun for the replacement of the summit lift, the Kennebago T-bar

Shawnee Peak:

• 70^th Anniversary season. Gala Celebration Event is February 2, 2008
• Learn to Ski/Ride Free Days December 22 & 23
• Installation of a new snowmaking pump which increased water pumping capacity to 4,500 gallons per minute.
• Adding more low-E tower mounted snowmaking guns
• “Happiness Is Trail” has been widened by 100’
• Carbon Neutral – 100% of carbon emissions from electricity, heating oil, gasoline and propane will be offset with wind energy credits and carbon sequestration

Lost Valley:

• Refurbishment & painting of the main chair, the “Colored Chairlift”
• Our expanding and learning Terrain Park will again be updated
• Welcoming Jon Vallieres working together with outside sponsorship which has spawned more sponsored Rail Jams along with the Maine Mountain Series back again.
• Continue to provide the surrounding communities with one of the largest Snowsports Schools in the area. The school and group programs are a major part of what makes us unique, day & night.
• Updating the look of our Terrain Park with the help of sponsored rails, boxes and amazing features with input from Josh Lempert and John Vallieres. Along with updating the look and flow of the park, Lost Valley is developing a learning section of the park where all elements will remain in contact with the snow.

Camden Snow Bowl

• Extension of the Terrain Park further uphill with addition of several new elements
• Re-graded approach to the Foxy trail from Mussel Ridge
• New Upper, Upper Glade trail off the top of the chairlift

Mt. Abram

• New groomer and 12 new trailside snow guns
• New high-output fan snowgun
• Clearing underway at Snowmaking Pond
• Tubing Hill redesigned – now 3 runs

Eaton Mountain

• New owners purchased the ski area in September 2007.
• Trail maintenance including brush cutting & widening
• Renovations to Base Lodge and cafeteria
• Expanded ski rental shop
• Expanded terrain park

Ski Maine Association welcomes it newest ski area member, Baker Mountain in Moscow Maine.
